Strength Beyond Your Own

Friend, I am so glad you are here. Some days the race feels long, the legs feel heavy, and the finish line seems impossibly far away — and it is on exactly those days that I want to sit with you in this verse for a few quiet minutes.

— Eric

“I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.”
Philippians 4:13 (KJV)

I have whispered Philippians 4:13 to myself on some of my hardest days — not as a magic formula, but as a genuine anchor for my soul. There is something about returning to this verse that steadies the feet and quiets the fear. I pray it does the same for you today.

Paul wrote these words not from a place of comfort, but from a prison cell. He had known hunger and abundance, freedom and chains, shipwreck and safety. His confidence was not built on favorable circumstances — it was built on a Person. 'I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me' is less a slogan and more a testimony earned through suffering.

The word 'strengtheneth' carries the picture of one person continually pouring strength into another — an ongoing, active infusion. Christ is not a one-time boost at the starting line. He is the steady supply of energy for every step of the race, every hill, every mile marker where your own reserves run dry.

This means the thing you are dreading today, the conversation you keep putting off, the grief you are carrying, the discipline you cannot seem to maintain — none of it is outside His reach. You are not expected to manufacture strength from within. You are invited to draw it from Him.

Take It With You

Identify one specific challenge you are facing today and, before you attempt it, pause and ask Christ to strengthen you for that exact moment. Then take the step trusting He is already providing what you need.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, I cannot run this race on my own strength, and I am grateful I do not have to — fill me today with exactly what I need, and let my endurance be a testimony to Your faithfulness. Amen.

1944 — A Remarkable Act of Allied Courage

In the summer of 1944, Allied forces were pushing steadily through occupied Europe following the D-Day landings, liberating towns and restoring hope to people who had endured years of darkness. In early August of that year, countless ordinary soldiers pressed forward at great personal cost, trusting that the effort — however exhausting — was worth the outcome. Their perseverance helped secure the freedom of millions.
