What Is Grace?

Grace is not God ignoring sin. Grace is God saving sinners through the finished work of Jesus Christ. Because God is holy, sin must be judged. Because God is merciful, He sent His Son to bear the judgment His people deserved. Grace means salvation is not earned by morality, religious activity, family background, or personal effort. It is the gift of God. But biblical grace also trains believers. The same grace that saves us teaches us to deny ungodliness and live in obedience. Grace never becomes permission to remain in sin. True grace humbles us, changes us, and causes us to worship Christ.
