Biden: Arrogantly Says Not Willing To Allow Voters To Decide On Abortion

When branches of our government get things wrong due to incompetence or activism, the ramifications can have profound consequences lasting for decades and possibly permanently, negatively affecting the US citizenry.

On January 22, 1973, the Supreme Court made a politically charged and unsupported finding that the Constitution guarantees women in the United States a fundamental right to choose whether to have an abortion without excessive government restriction and struck down Texas’s abortion ban as unconstitutional.

The Supreme Court has now reportedly issued a decision overturning Roe v. Wade. This is according to a release of a draft of the decision.

In the leaked copy of Justice Samuel Alito’s draft opinion, the conservative Associate Justice wages a frontal assault on the courts’ overturning the Texas law, in effect codifying the right to abortion nationwide.

Alito’s draft is labeled as a proposed majority opinion, though the wording of the court’s ultimate ruling and the line-up of justices who support it could change before the final release, expected by late June or early July.

A few main points from Alito:

• “We hold that Roe and Casey must be overruled. The Constitution makes no reference to abortion, and no such right is implicitly protected by any constitutional provision….”

• “Roe was egregiously wrong from the start. Its reasoning was exceptionally weak, and the decision has had damaging consequences. And far from bringing about a national settlement of the abortion issue, Roe and Casey have enflamed debate and deepened division. It is time to heed the Constitution and return the issue of abortion to the people’s elected representatives.”

On Tuesday, President Joe Biden made some incorrect yet revealing statements about religion and whether people should have the right to vote on abortion.

Biden told reporters he doesn’t want Americans to have the right to vote on whether abortion must be legal nationwide saying, “I’m not prepared to leave” abortion “to the whims of the public at the moment.”

“The idea that we’re gonna make a judgment that is going to say that no one can make the judgment to choose to abort a child based on a decision by the Supreme Court I think goes way overboard,” Biden added — even though overturning Roe just sends abortion back to the states.

Biden also tried to blend Christianity in with “mainstream religions”, undefined by the president, misleading the public that Christianity doesn’t condemn abortion, which it does extensively.

“Roe says what all basic, mainstream religions have historically concluded, that the existence of a human life and being is a question: Is it at the moment of conception? Is it six months? Is it six weeks?…The idea…we’re going to make a judgment…goes way overboard.”

In Biden’s world, the Supreme Court or Congress should have the final say about abortion rather than the people via their statewide elected officials.

According to Politico the decision is not final and could change but the leaked draft of the opinion has four justices — Clarence Thomas, Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh and Amy Coney Barrett — joined Alito while three — Stephen Breyer, Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan — dissented.

“We hold that Roe and Casey must be overruled,” the opinion reportedly continued. “It is time to heed the Constitution and return the issue of abortion to the people’s elected representatives.”
