Rand Paul Calls for DA Bragg to be Jailed Over ‘Disgusting Abuse of Power’

On Tuesday, Senator Rand Paul called for leftist District Attorney Alvin Bragg to be jailed if he tries to indict former President Donald Trump, as that would be a “disgusting abuse of power.”

Paul is just the latest Republican to come to Trump’s defense as he faces a possible indictment over “hush money” paid to porn star Stormy Daniels.

“A Trump indictment would be a disgusting abuse of power. The DA should be put in jail,” Paul declared on Twitter in response to the rumored arrest.

House Speaker Kevin McCarthy also blasted Bragg on Saturday after Trump predicted an arrest, citing illegal leaks, ““Here we go again — an outrageous abuse of power by a radical DA who lets violent criminals walk as he pursues political vengeance against President Trump.”

“I’m directing relevant committees to immediately investigate if federal funds are being used to subvert our democracy by interfering in elections with politically motivated prosecutions,” he added.

House investigative committee Republicans are also demanding some sort of action be taken, and even asked Bragg to testify.

Several wrote a letter – including Judiciary Committee chairman Rep. Jim Jordan, Oversight Committee chairman Rep. James Comer, and Administration Committee chairman Rep. Bryan Steil – that said, “In light of the serious consequences of your actions, we expect that you will testify about what plainly appears to be a politically motivated prosecutorial decision.

In response to the letter, Bragg’s office stated that they won’t be “intimidated” out of filing charges.

“We will not be intimidated by attempts to undermine the justice process, nor will we let baseless accusations deter us from fairly applying the law,” a spokesperson told Fox News.

“In every prosecution, we follow the law without fear or favor to uncover the truth. Our skilled, honest and dedicated lawyers remain hard at work,” the spokesperson added.
