Day 1 — The Wake-Up Call
Day 1 — The Wake-Up Call
Main Scripture: Ephesians 5:14
“Awake, O sleeper, and arise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.”
Today’s Teaching
Introduction
Most men do not wake up one morning and decide to abandon their walk with God.
Drift happens slowly.
One compromise at a time. One distraction at a time. One neglected prayer at a time. One missed opportunity for obedience at a time.
Before long, many men find themselves far from where they once intended to be.
The purpose of this first day is not condemnation. The purpose is awareness.
You cannot change what you refuse to acknowledge.
Many men remain stuck because they never stop long enough to honestly evaluate where they are.
God’s grace often begins with a wake-up call.
Paul’s message is clear: wake up, pay attention, stop drifting, and move toward Christ intentionally.
Signs Of Spiritual Drift
Spiritual drift rarely announces itself.
It often appears in subtle ways:
- Prayer becomes inconsistent.
- Scripture reading becomes occasional.
- Church involvement decreases.
- Conviction becomes easier to ignore.
- Distractions consume more attention than God.
- Excuses replace responsibility.
The frightening thing about drift is that it often feels normal while it is happening.
That is why honest self-examination matters.
The Good News
No matter how far you have drifted, God calls men back to Himself.
His grace is greater than your failures. His mercy is available today.
This reset is not about earning God’s favor. It is about responding to His invitation.
Today begins with honesty.
Not excuses.
Not blame.
Not shame.
Honesty.
Ask God to reveal areas where you have become passive, distracted, or complacent.
Awareness is the first step toward transformation.
Forge Reflection
- Where have I become spiritually passive?
- What distraction currently has the strongest influence over my life?
- What habit is pulling me away from God?
- What responsibility have I been avoiding?
- What would change if I became fully intentional in my walk with Christ?
- What area of my life most needs God’s intervention?
- What is one step of obedience I can take today?
Today’s Forge Challenge
Choose one major distraction. Remove it completely for the rest of today.
Examples:
- Social media
- Streaming services
- Sports media
- News consumption
- Gaming
- Unnecessary phone use
Take the time you recover and spend it with God.
Read Scripture. Pray. Reflect. Listen.
Pay attention to how often you instinctively reach for that distraction.

Prayer
Father,
Thank You for loving me enough to confront me with truth.
Show me where I have drifted.
Reveal areas of passivity, distraction, compromise, and disobedience.
Give me the humility to be honest and the courage to change.
Help me reject excuses and take responsibility for my walk with You.
Create in me a deeper desire for holiness, discipline, and obedience.
Awaken me from spiritual complacency and renew my passion for Christ.
I do not want to drift.
I want to follow You intentionally.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
