Trust cannot be demanded; it must be rebuilt. When trust has been damaged, the offending spouse must take ownership without excuses. Repentance includes truth-telling, changed patterns, accountability, and patience with the wounded spouse’s healing process. The wounded spouse must pursue forgiveness in obedience to Christ, but forgiveness does not mean pretending consequences disappear. Biblical restoration is not cheap. It requires humility, counsel, prayer, transparency, and time. Christ can restore what sin has damaged, but both spouses must submit to Him.
