There is a sentence Jesus spoke on the worst night of His earthly life that still rings like a bell across every century: 'Be of good cheer — I have overcome the world.' He said it before the cross, before the resurrection, before any of it was visible. That kind of confidence changes everything.
Jesus does not promise us a smooth road. He promises us something far better — Himself on the road with us. 'In the world ye shall have tribulation' is not a warning meant to discourage; it is an honest word from a faithful friend. He wanted His disciples — and He wants us — to be people who are not blindsided by hardship, but who have been prepared for it by truth.
The peace He offers is not the peace of circumstances resolved, but the peace of a war already won. When Jesus says 'I have overcome the world,' He speaks in the perfect tense — a completed victory with ongoing results. The battle is done. The outcome is secure. You may still feel the tremors of the fight, but you are standing on solid ground.
This is the heartbeat of finishing the race: not that we never stumble, not that the course is never steep, but that we run in the company of One who has already crossed every finish line on our behalf. His victory becomes the fuel for our endurance.

Take It With You
Today, when anxiety or discouragement creeps in, pause and speak this truth aloud: 'He has overcome.' Let His completed victory reframe whatever feels unfinished or overwhelming in your own story.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank You that Your peace is not fragile — it is rooted in Your victory. Help me to rest in what You have already accomplished and to run today's stretch of the race with genuine cheer. Amen.
