Foundations of the Christian Faith – Who Is Jesus Christ?
Few questions are more important than this one: Who is Jesus Christ? Throughout history, countless people have offered different answers. Some view Jesus as a great teacher, others as a moral philosopher, and still others as a religious leader who influenced history. Yet the Bible presents a far more profound claim. According to Scripture, Jesus Christ is the Son of God, the Savior of humanity, and the central figure of God’s plan of redemption.
Understanding who Jesus is lies at the very heart of the Christian faith. Christianity does not begin with a set of ethical teachings or religious rituals; it begins with a person. The entire message of the Gospel centers on the identity and work of Jesus Christ.
Jesus Is the Son of God

For example, Isaiah 7:14 predicted that the Messiah would be born of a virgin, while Micah 5:2 foretold that the Messiah would be born in Bethlehem. The life of Jesus fulfilled these and many other prophetic statements.

The Teachings of Jesus
During His earthly ministry, Jesus taught with extraordinary authority. Crowds were often amazed by His wisdom and insight. Unlike other teachers of His time, Jesus did not simply interpret religious traditions; He spoke as one who possessed direct authority from God.
Many of Jesus’ teachings focused on the nature of God’s kingdom, the importance of love and forgiveness, and the need for repentance. His message challenged people to reconsider their priorities and align their lives with God’s will.
The Miracles of Jesus
In addition to His teachings, Jesus performed numerous miracles. The Gospels record instances where He healed the sick, restored sight to the blind, calmed storms, and even raised the dead.
These miracles served as signs pointing to His divine authority. They demonstrated that Jesus possessed power over nature, illness, and death itself.
The Mission of Christ
The ultimate purpose of Jesus’ ministry was to bring salvation to humanity. Jesus Himself explained this mission in Luke 19:10:
“For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.”
Through His life, death, and resurrection, Jesus made it possible for sinners to be forgiven and restored to a relationship with God.
