The Christian Life According To Scripture ✝️📖🔥

How Christians Should Live Biblically

Christians are called to live as lights in a dark world, ambassadors of Christ, joyful children of the King, and a people eagerly awaiting the return of Jesus Christ.

The Christian life is much more than attending church on Sunday, reading the Bible occasionally, or trying to be a good person. When a person is genuinely born again through faith in Jesus Christ, everything changes. His identity changes. His purpose changes. His eternal destination changes.

The Bible teaches that Christians are citizens of another kingdom. We belong to Christ. We have been purchased by His blood and called to live differently from the world around us.

In a culture increasingly hostile to biblical truth, many believers wonder how they should live. What does God expect from His people? How should Christians conduct themselves while waiting for the return of Jesus Christ?

Scripture provides clear answers.

1. Live as the Light of the World

Jesus gave His followers a remarkable description:

“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden.”

— Matthew 5:14 (NASB)

The world is spiritually dark because it has rejected God. Sin blinds people to the truth and separates them from their Creator. Into that darkness, God has placed His people as lights.

Notice that Jesus did not say Christians should become the light of the world. He said they are the light of the world.

Because Christ lives within believers through the Holy Spirit, Christians reflect His truth, His holiness, and His love to those around them.

“Your light must shine before people in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.”

— Matthew 5:16 (NASB)

Christians should stand out.

Not because they seek attention. Not because they are self-righteous. But because their lives reflect Christ.

The way we speak, work, treat others, handle adversity, conduct business, and interact with our families should point people toward God.

The world does not need Christians who blend in.

It needs Christians who shine.

2. Share the Gospel as Ambassadors of the King

One of the greatest privileges believers possess is representing Jesus Christ to the world.

The Apostle Paul writes:

“Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making an appeal through us.”

— 2 Corinthians 5:20 (NASB)

An ambassador represents the interests of his king in a foreign land. That perfectly describes the Christian life.

Our ultimate citizenship is in Heaven.

“For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.”

— Philippians 3:20 (NASB)

We live in this world, but we belong to another kingdom.

As ambassadors of Christ, believers have been entrusted with the Gospel message. The world desperately needs to hear that salvation is available through Jesus Christ alone.

People need to know that God is holy, man is sinful, Christ died for sinners, Christ rose from the dead, and salvation comes through repentance and faith.

Many Christians remain silent because they fear rejection or controversy.

Yet Jesus commanded:

“Go, therefore, and make disciples of all the nations.”

— Matthew 28:19 (NASB)

Sharing the Gospel is not merely for pastors and missionaries. It is the responsibility of every believer.

The King has given His ambassadors a message.

We must faithfully proclaim it.

3. Live Joyfully as Children of the King

Too many Christians walk through life as if they have forgotten who they are.

Believers are not merely forgiven sinners. They are adopted children of God.

“See how great a love the Father has given us, that we would be called children of God; and in fact we are.”

— 1 John 3:1 (NASB)

The Creator of the universe calls believers His sons and daughters.

Because of Christ, Christians have been reconciled to God, forgiven completely, and granted eternal life.

That reality should produce joy.

Not superficial happiness based on circumstances. Deep, abiding joy rooted in God’s promises.

“Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice!”

— Philippians 4:4 (NASB)

Christians should be the most hopeful people on earth.

Why?

Because we know who wins. We know where we are going. We know Who sits on the throne.

Scripture also reminds us that believers have been purchased at a great cost.

“For you have been bought for a price: therefore glorify God in your body.”

— 1 Corinthians 6:20 (NASB)

We are not our own.

Our bodies belong to Christ. Our time belongs to Christ. Our talents belong to Christ. Our resources belong to Christ.

Everything we are and everything we have should be used for His glory.

The Christian life is not about self-fulfillment.

It is about glorifying God.

4. Live in Expectation of Christ’s Return

One of the most neglected doctrines in modern Christianity is the return of Jesus Christ.

The early church lived with eager anticipation of Christ’s return. They expected Him. They longed for Him. They prepared for Him.

The Bible repeatedly calls believers to live with that same expectation.

“Looking for the blessed hope and the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Christ Jesus.”

— Titus 2:13 (NASB)

The return of Christ is not wishful thinking. It is a certainty.

Jesus Himself promised:

“I am coming again and will take you to Myself, so that where I am, there you also will be.”

— John 14:3 (NASB)

Christ will return for His church. The Bridegroom will come for His bride. The King will gather His people. The Savior will complete the work He began.

This truth should affect how Christians live today.

When believers remember that Christ could return at any time, it changes priorities. It encourages holiness. It motivates evangelism. It strengthens perseverance. It reminds us that this world is not our home.

The Apostle John writes:

“And everyone who has this hope set on Him purifies himself, just as He is pure.”

— 1 John 3:3 (NASB)

The expectation of Christ’s return is not intended to create fear. It is intended to inspire faithfulness.

Living for the Glory of God

The Christian life can be summarized in one simple phrase:

Live for the glory of God.

As the light of the world, we reflect Christ.

As ambassadors of the King, we proclaim the Gospel.

As children of God, we live with joy and gratitude.

As citizens of Heaven, we eagerly await the return of Jesus Christ.

The world offers countless distractions. But Christians have a higher calling.

Every day is an opportunity to glorify God through our words, actions, attitudes, and testimony.

Until Christ returns:

May we live faithfully, shine brightly, proclaim boldly, rejoice continually, and eagerly await the glorious return of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
