Fighting Back – Philly Gas Station Owner Hires Security Guards With AR-15s
It’s shaping up to be another grim year for Philadelphia, which is on pace to eclipse last year’s homicide record. Plus, overall violent crime is surging, and robberies have more than doubled compared to this time in 2021, according to city data.
The city has reported 388 homicides so far this year, up slightly from 384 at the same time last year, when Philly set a record with 562 homicides.
- Overall shootings have increased by 3%, according to city stats.
- Overall violent crime is up 7% from the same time last year.
In response, Philadelphia gas station owner Neil Patel hired security guards with AR-15s to deal with all the “nonsense, drug trafficking, hanging around, [and] gangs” endangering his employees.
“We wear Kevlar, we are trained, my guards go to training every other week, they’re proficient with [their guns] and with their taser, they know the law,” Chief Andre Boyer said.
Patel, who has a Karco gas station, hired “Pennsylvania S.I.T.E Agents clad with Kevlar vest and AR-15s or shotguns” to keep his employees safe, FOX 29 reports.
The final straw for Patel came after he said his business was vandalized by young people and an ATM machine was stolen. His car was also a casualty of crime around the area.
A North Philly owner says he’s had enough violent crime at his gas station so he’s hired these guys to protect his customers and store.

“They are forcing us to hire the security, high-level security, state level. We are tired of this nonsense: robbery, drug trafficking, hanging around, gangs,” Patel said.
Since hiring the guards, Patel claims his business has been free of loitering and other crime.
I have only been to the former “city of brotherly love” one time, and as with New York City, will not be spending any of my hard-earned money vacationing in their violent cities in the near future, and I am sure I am not the only one.
Lawlessness is unacceptable, but common when the citizens put their trust in corrupt Democrats running city hall.
