Marjorie Taylor Greene (MTG) And Rep. Gosar Score Important Committee Seats

The 2022 midterm election results were considered a disappointment by many on the right.

But one outcome, the GOP winning back the US House, could be a game changer for the direction of the US.

The US House of Representatives under the new leadership of Speaker Kevin McCarthy is off to a fast start.

When Democrats controlled the House in the last Congress, it held separate votes to remove Representatives Marjorie Taylor Greene (MTG) and Paul Gosar from their respective committees due to “incendiary comments” they made on social media.

In February 2021, The House voted to remove MTG from the Budget panel and Education and Labor Committee after extremist and racist comments she posted to social media before she was elected to Congress surfaced.

Greene lost her committee spots just a month after she was sworn in as a House member, and 11 Republicans joined all Democrats in voting to strip the Georgia lawmaker of her assignments.

Spreaker McCarthy vowed to place her back on her committees and remove Democrats who have made inflammatory comments prior to Republicans taking back the majority.

In what has to get under the skin of the radical left, Rep. Greene is back on committee assignments now that Republicans have retaken the House.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) has been given a spot on two House committees in the 118th Congress after the Republican firebrand became a vocal backer of Rep. Kevin McCarthy’s (R-CA) bid for House speaker.

The House GOP Steering Committee placed Greene on the Homeland Security Committee and the powerful Oversight Committee.

The Homeland Security panel works on legislation regarding national security, which includes the border and immigration, and conducts oversight of the Department of Homeland Security. The House Committee on Oversight and Accountability will be responsible for one of the GOP’s investigations into classified documents found in President Joe Biden’s former office.

Rep. Paul Gosar was kicked off his committee seat after he posted a video that the Democrats found offensive. The video was a cartoon of him attacking AOC and Biden, and was meant to be humorous…predictably the Democrats lost it and used it to try to humiliate him and purge him from Congressional committees.

The Hill reported at the time:

“The House voted almost entirely along party lines on Wednesday to censure Rep. Paul Gosar (R-Ariz.) and take away his committee seats for posting an anime video depicting him violently attacking Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) and President Biden.”

“Only two Republicans, Reps. Liz Cheney (Wyo.) and Adam Kinzinger (Ill.), joined all Democrats as the House voted 223-207, with Rep. David Joyce (R-Ohio) voting “present,” to punish Gosar.”

“In an extraordinary scene, Gosar was forced to stand in the center of the House floor as Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) read aloud the resolution that made him just the 24th lawmaker in the chamber’s more than 200-year history to be censured.”

“Gosar will also be removed from the House Oversight and Reform Committee, where he has served with Ocasio-Cortez, as well as the House Natural Resources Committee.”

Well, Gosar is back and will be serving on the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability and he got a seat back on the House Committee on Natural Resources, which he previously held.
