In an address to the nation Thursday night, President Joe Biden mumbled through a teleprompter-driven plea for the U.S. Congress to take action against gun violence.
He called on lawmakers to restore a ban on the sale of assault-style weapons and high-capacity magazines after a string of mass shootings.
Tough guy Joe warned the GOP that if they don’t get on board with the administration’s anti-gun policies, the voters should use their “outrage” to turn gun violence into a central issue in November’s midterm elections.
“Nothing has been done,” Biden said. “This time that cannot be true. This time we must actually do something.”
Then Joe tried to address the concerns of law-abiding gun owners by telling them in spite of the mounting amount of gun legislation working its way through the U.S. House, he is not trying to take away people’s guns, before telling America he wanted to take away peoples guns.
“For so many of you at home, I want to be very clear, this is not about taking away anyone’s guns,” Biden said before announcing he wanted to ban all “assault weapons” including AK-47s and AR-15s as well as magazines holding 30 rounds.
“I respect the culture, tradition, the concerns of lawful gun owners,” he claimed.
Biden’s speech quickly turned sharply partisan as he blamed Republicans for blocking gun control proposals.
“My God. The fact that the majority of the Senate Republicans don’t want any of these proposals even to be debated or come up for a vote, I find unconscionable,” he said. “We can’t fail the American people again.”
He called for Americans to vote out Republicans for opposing his proposals.
“I believe the majority of you will act to turn your outrage to turn this issue central to your vote,” he said. “Enough! Enough! Enough!”
The president also called for proposals to raise the age for a person to purchase a rifle to the age of 21, more “red flag” laws, and requirements for locked gun storage.
Biden then called for existing legal protections for manufacturers to be dropped, allowing those shot, or surviving family members, to sue the manufacturer for damages.
“This time we have to take the time to do something,” he said.
Biden said more gun control was necessary to protect the “freedom” of Americans so they could go to school or the grocery store without being killed.
“Enough. Enough,” Biden repeated throughout his speech, sometimes softly, sometimes raising his voice.
He escalated his emotional rhetoric, describing the crime scenes of mass shootings as “killing fields” and “battlefields.”
“For God’s sake, how much more carnage are we willing to accept?” he asked.
“I know how hard it is, but I’ll never give up,” Biden said.
Conservatives on Twitter weren’t buying the speech, calling it another attempt to attack the Second Amendment and gun owners.
This is a communist takeover attempt.

Washington Times columnist Tim Young implied that Biden wants to disarm Americans because they’re his enemy. “Biden arms Ukraine because he believes them to be allies. Biden wants to disarm Americans because he believes them to be enemies,” he tweeted.
Townhall.com managing editor Spencer Brown slammed the president for blaming the GOP, when Democrat-run cities like Chicago are dealing with high crime. “Biden made the GOP out to be the problem in his remarks on gun violence tonight. But in 2021, a dozen U.S. cities broke their homicide records. All of them are led by Democrats,” he wrote.

After Biden finished his speech, the Bidens once again escaped, planning to spend the rest of the week at their beach house in Delaware.
I am why not, Joe has nothing better to do, right?
Well actually, he could have worked on inflation, on getting more baby formula, opening up more federal land for drilling, and approving mental health programs to prevent further mass shootings from taking place.
