Don’t Mess With Texas: Gov. Abbott Deploys 10 Armored Carriers To Southern Border
Enough is enough, the latest battle cry coming out of the governor’s office in Austin, Texas.
Republican Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has tried relentlessly to get the White House’s attention concerning the massive invasion of millions of illegal aliens crossing over his state’s border with Mexico.
Abbott recently ratcheted up his efforts by loading thousands of foreign nationals on busses and dropping them in New York City, Washington DC, Delaware, and other liberal cities.
Well, Abbott’s action did not work so he just declared an emergency and is treating the invasion as a threat to the lives of his citizens.
The feisty popular governor’s border mission is adding armored personnel carriers, days after invoking an “invasion” clause of both the U.S. Constitution and Texas Constitution to combat ongoing and overwhelming illegal immigration in the state.
The Texas Tribune reported that the Texas Military Department issued the order as part of Operation Lone Star. The National Guard will soon deploy 10 M113 armored personnel carrier vehicles to the border, the publication said.
The ten M113 armored personnel carriers (APC) left staging areas near Fort Hood earlier this week and are being transported by trailer to the Texas border region, according to information obtained from Texas Military Department officials.
“The personnel carriers are being trucked to security points along the border today. These will enhance protection for our forces in the face of increasing cartel-directed criminal activity,” TMD officials said in a written statement. “The lifting of Title 42 could lead to a massive influx of illegal immigrants allowing criminals to further exploit gaps where federal authorities are inundated with migrant processing.”
Texas military officials say the vehicles are needed to protect soldiers from increasing acts of violence in the border region.
“Between Oct. 1 2021 and Nov. 8 2022, Texas National Guard Service Members have experienced 267 suspicious or violent events,” officials stated. “These events include receipt of gunfire across the border, physical assaults, drone activity, lazing, surveillance, suspicious activity, threats of violence to the task force, and threats of violence to individuals.”
Governor Abbott’s office added, “The personnel carriers are being trucked to security points along the border to enhance protection amid increasing cartel-driven criminal activity. The lifting of Title 42 later this month could lead to a massive influx of illegal immigrants, allowing criminals to further exploit gaps where federal authorities are inundated with migrant processing.”
Texas Department of Public Safety spokesman, Lt. Chris Olivarez told Fox News, “With Title 42 in place, that’s really the only policy we have to sustain the situation we’re seeing on the border, but right now that’s hanging by a thread.”
The U.S. Supreme Court on June 26th, 2012 struck down key parts of an Arizona law.
The court’s 5-3 ruling upheld the authority of the federal government to set immigration policy and laws.
“The National Government has significant power to regulate immigration,” Justice Anthony Kennedy wrote in the majority opinion. “Arizona may have understandable frustrations with the problems caused by illegal immigration while that process continues, but the State may not pursue policies that undermine federal law.”
