DeSantis Orders State Colleges To Report Money Spent On “Diversity, Equity And Inclusion”

As with conservatives who become irritated when hearing the name Joe Biden, leftists become unhinged, even more, when hearing about the common sense actions being taken by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.

As he begins his second term as the Sunshine State’s Chief Executive Officer, DeSantis has placed woke ideology on this term’s list of issues that must be addressed.

With the upcoming 2023 Legislative Session quickly approaching, the DeSantis administration is requiring state colleges and universities to compile a list of programs and campus activities relating to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) and critical race theory (CRT).

The Governor’s Press Secretary, Bryan Griffin, confirmed the report Wednesday afternoon.

He published a memo from the Governor’s Office to Education Commissioner Manny Diaz and the Chancellor of the State University System of Florida, Ray Rodrigues.

“All state universities & college systems in Florida have been required to report expenditures and resources utilized for campus activities related to diversity, equity, and inclusion and critical race theory. Stay tuned,” Griffin tweeted.

The memo, dated Dec. 28, gives each institution a January 13 deadline to report back with their findings.

The letter begins:

“As the Executive Office of the Governor prepares policy and budget proposals ahead of the 2023 Legislative Session, it is important that we have a full understanding of the operational expenses of state institutions. Governor Ron DeSantis has prioritized a cost-effective higher education system that delivers high-quality service to Floridians to best prepare them for employment. Additionally, state law requires dutiful attention to curriculum content at our higher education systems as specified in sections 1000.05 and 1007.25 of the Florida Statutes.”

In the letter, the DeSantis administration is requiring the costs associated with the following four areas.

  • Brief description of the program or activity
  • Positions, including full and partial FTE
  • Total funding spent to support the initiative
  • Of the total spent to support the initiative, the amount that is state-funded
