Audiences Says NO To Trans Bat Girl, Movie Shelved – Warner Eats $70M
In a small step backward for the radical social engineering mob, Americans’ voices have been heard. They are saying no to letting a man, be Bat Girl.
In a surprise move by the woke industry, Warner Bros. has shelved their scheduled new Bat Girl flick citing poor audience reactions to test screenings for the production that featured DC’s first trans character,” a top Hollywood source told The Post.
The film was based on the DC Comics character Barbara Gordon – or Batgirl – played by Leslie Grace.
Batgirl is the alter ego of Barbara Gordon, Commissioner Gordon. Alicia Silverstone played her in 1997’s Batman & Robin.
The reportedly $70+ million movie would be one of the most expensive pre-release cancellations in industry history.
The focus group tests were said to be so poorly received by moviegoers that the studio decided to cut its losses and run, for the sake of the brand’s future.
“They think an unspeakable ‘Batgirl’ is going to be irredeemable,” the source said.
In what was considered odd, and a warning sign to industry experts, “Batgirl,” did not receive not a single mention at DC’s Comic-Con panel in San Diego in July
“Batgirl,” which stars Leslie Grace (“In the Heights”) in the title role, alongside J.K. Simmons, Michael Keaton, and Brendan Fraser, was originally planned for an HBO Max release. The Puck newsletter reported in April that WB’s then-chair, Toby Emmerich, was considering a theatrical run for the film too.
A spokesperson for the firm told the BBC: “The decision to not release Batgirl reflects our leadership’s strategic shift as it relates to the DC universe and HBO Max.”
“Leslie Grace is an incredibly talented actor and this decision is not a reflection of her performance. We are incredibly grateful to the filmmakers of Batgirl and Scoob! Holiday Haunt and their respective casts and we hope to collaborate with everyone again in the near future.”
The rushed series of cancelations follows a change in leadership after Warner Bros merged with Discovery in May 2021, with David Zaslav its new CEO.
Bat Girl may have escaped her replacement with a dude for now, but unless something dramatically changes in the American culture, the #metoo movement will have something else to talk about soon; a man took away a woman’s fictional character.
