Tim ‘Weirdo’ Walz Under Fire for Praising Children in LGBTQ+ Pride Parade

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, who has recently emerged as Vice President Kamala Harris’s running mate, is drawing scrutiny for his comments during a 2017 campaign event where he praised young children as the “stars” of the “Walz for Governor Pride Parade.” The remarks, made in a video shared on social media, have resurfaced, igniting a debate over the appropriateness of involving children in political and LGBTQ+ events.

Weirdo ⁣Walz Praises Young Children as ‘Stars’ of the ‘Walz for Governor Pride Parade’ Video:

During the 2017 campaign, Walz posted a video showing children participating in the Pride parade, many of whom were wearing rainbow-colored skirts and shirts that spelled out “Walz,” designed in the colors of the LGBTQ+ rainbow flag. Walz’s caption for the video read, “Let’s be honest — these were the real stars of the Walz for Governor pride parade unit this Sunday,” a statement that has since sparked controversy, particularly among conservative circles.

Critics argue that the involvement of children in such a politically charged event raises ethical questions. It is one thing for adults to participate in political activism; it is quite another to parade young children, who may not fully understand the complexities of the issues at hand, in an event that heavily promotes a particular ideology. The inclusion of children in this manner appears to be less about their participation and more about using them as symbolic props to advance a political agenda.

Walz also has a history of dismissing concerns of the corporate LGBTQ+ push, suggesting that concerns over this is “insane.”

As Breitbart News detailed:

‘Walz made the remark in 2023 in reaction to criticisms from South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem (R), who said in an interview days prior that conservatives should think twice about shopping at Target following revelations that the store donated to the NDN Collective — a group seeking to remove Mount Rushmore, deeming it an “international symbol of White supremacy” — in 2022.

“I’m in a neighborhood where, you know, a governor next door to me, this week, made the case that a rainbow on a t-shirt at Target is destroying our democracy. That’s nonsense. That’s just — that’s just insane. And I think most people here in Minnesota agree,” Walz said, failing to mention that the Pride Month apparel was not the specific source of Noem’s criticism in the remark he was supposedly reacting to.

The fact that he immediately pointed to those concerned about the LGBTQ+ push by woke corporations — without Noem actually focusing on that in her specific remark — is even more telling, as it shows how Walz really feels about Americans who are sick of the pro-LGBTQ+ agenda being shoved down their throats — and those of their children.’

This incident underscores broader concerns about the politicization of children and the infiltration of progressive ideologies into education and public life. The decision to have children not only attend but actively participate in an LGBTQ+ pride event suggests a troubling trend where children are being used to promote specific political viewpoints, rather than being allowed to develop their understanding of complex social issues in a neutral and age-appropriate environment.

The praise Walz bestowed on the children in the video can be interpreted as an attempt to normalize the involvement of minors in political activities that align with progressive causes. This stands in stark contrast to the conservative belief that children should be shielded from premature exposure to ideologically driven events, particularly those related to sexual identity and orientation. It is argued that such matters are best left to the discretion of parents and should be discussed within the context of the family rather than in public political displays.

Furthermore, Walz’s comments could be seen as a reflection of a broader agenda that prioritizes the promotion of LGBTQ+ rights over the protection of children’s innocence. Conservatives have long voiced concerns over the left’s push to integrate gender and sexual identity topics into schools and public life, arguing that it often comes at the expense of parental rights and children’s well-being. The use of children in the “Walz for Governor Pride Parade” can be viewed as an extension of this agenda, where political leaders like Walz are willing to engage in such practices to appeal to a progressive base.

Additionally, this incident raises questions about the role of public figures in setting examples for the younger generation. By involving children in such events and praising them as the “stars” of the parade, Walz may have inadvertently endorsed the idea that children should be active participants in politically and socially charged issues. This notion is deeply contested within conservative circles, where there is a strong belief that childhood should be a time for learning and growth, free from the pressures of political and ideological battles.

The fact that Walz’s comments were made during a gubernatorial campaign further complicates the issue. It suggests that the inclusion of children in the parade may have been a strategic move to garner support from the LGBTQ+ community and its allies. While it is not uncommon for politicians to engage with various demographic groups during campaigns, the use of children as political symbols is seen as crossing a line, particularly when the event in question revolves around issues of sexual orientation and identity.

Governor Tim Walz’s decision to involve children in his campaign’s Pride parade and his subsequent praise of them as the event’s “stars” raises significant concerns. It highlights the ongoing debate over the appropriate boundaries between childhood and political activism, and whether public figures like Walz are exploiting these boundaries to advance their agendas. As this story continues to unfold, it will likely serve as a flashpoint in the broader discussion about the role of children in political discourse and the extent to which they should be shielded from or exposed to the ideological battles of the day.
