Should I Pray Out Loud?

Scripture includes both private and public prayer. The issue is not volume but sincerity, faith, and reverence. Silent prayer is appropriate when you are alone, in distress, or unable to speak. Out-loud prayer can be helpful because it slows your thoughts and makes prayer concrete. It also matters in family worship, small groups, and church life because others are encouraged by hearing biblical, humble prayer. Do not pray out loud to impress people. Pray to commune with God and build up others.
